Constable Snook began his policing career in 1997 with Peel Regional Police and joined York Regional Police in May 1999. In 2007 Constable Snooks earned his current position as Community Liaison Officer. Constable Snook’s history of community involvement and youth service excellence dates back to 1994 when he became involved as a volunteer with Big Brothers and Sisters of York. His involvement included organising sporting events at his private residence and participating in the annual Bowl for Kids Sake fundraising event. The list of events, organizations and agencies in which Constable Snook has been a contributor to over the years is extensive; Crime Stoppers of York Region, Great Maple Cart Soapbox, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, Quaker Village Public School Community Council, Goodwood Gospel Hall, Soccer leagues, Empowered Student Partnerships, Youth Empowerment Strategy Forums, Student Crime Stoppers, Food Drive Programs, Five with Drive, and as Director of the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers since 2007. These are just a drop in the bucket of community and youth contributions. Constable Snooks created and implemented the “Photography Club” initiative in York Region that allows youth to experience positive interactions with police officers through one-on-one mentorship by using the arts medium of photography to open communication and build rapport. The partnership between the York Regional Police and the York Region District School Board involved students and police officers learning together the art of taking pictures, touring the York Regional Police Forensic Identification Unit and a Youth artwork show at the Varley Art Gallery in York Region. The student’s photographic art was also displayed at the Union Village Festival in Markham.

Constable Snooks is a strong role model, with a high moral code. He is a leader whose continual attention, dedication and commitment to youth and youth issues are recognized through Bud Knight Award.

CONGRATULATIONS, TODD SNOOKS
