Sarah Gee - 2009 Outstanding Youth Service Recipient

Sarah Gee is a grade 11 student at Westmount Secondary School in Hamilton. Sarah is recognized in her community, school and by her peers as a hardworking and dedicated student. She contributes academically and socially to her school. The list of committees, activities and organizations that benefit from Sarah’s involvement is extensive. It is best put by one of her teachers who says “She is unstoppable when it comes to community work. Sarah has no rival in her involvement on school committees”. She is a 3 year member of Student Council, Students Promoting Leadership Action Team, City of Hamilton Substance Abuse Prevention Committee and the Teen Tobacco Summit. In Sarah’s words “I don’t know the meaning of “can’t” and know first-hand experience that by getting involved, I can make a difference, so actively encourage those around me to also participate. I also believe that youth can have the power to facilitate change.”

Sarah Gee is the first recipient of the Committee of Youth Officers of Ontario Outstanding Youth Service Award. She truly demonstrates that she is not a future leader – but already a leader who will change the future.
