Ashley Lyons - 2010 Community Award for Youth Service

Ashley Lyons is the program manager with Safe City Mississauga. During her last 5 years in Peel she has shown her dedication and commitment for the youth in her programs.
Miss Lyons successfully manages 19 academies a year with 5 participants per
academy to the satisfaction of students, teachers and administrators as well as presenters and sponsors. Not only is this program going strong but it has expanded
to 100% of the Secondary Schools in Mississauga with 35 of these different schools having multiple academics each year due to the funds being provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2009.
In 2010 Ashley assisted with writing a multi-year grant to the region of Peel to maintain financial sustainability for the Crossroads Youth Academy. Furthermore,
in 2010 Miss Lyons secured $10,000 for the Counter-Act Program. Ashley delivers numerous other programs free for children grades K – 6 from an under-serviced neighbourhood in Mississauga.
Miss Lyons designed, developed and successfully managed the first Annual Neighbour’s Night Out which is now in its third year, and she assisted to create the concept for a comic book line for the Superhero Neighbourhood Knights that came
to life due to the close working relationship built with Peel Regional Police by Ashley’s dedication and hard work.
Miss Lyons has been committed to youth programs since the age of 14 and at 25
years of age has not slowed down for a minute. Ashley’s impact with the youth of Peel is greatly appreciated by hundreds of children in her programs.
Ashley Lyons’ hard work and strong work ethic has earned her the 2010 Community Award for Youth Service.
